First Time on a Nude Beach and a Discussion About the Differences between Nude and Naked and Porn vs Erotica

What is nude and what is naked? What is erotica and what is pornorgaphy? I will preface this debate with one of my favorite personal stories. I remember on one of my first times on a nude beach with a (male) friend, we lucked out big time. Stepping over from the clothed to the unclothed section we immediately came across two beautiful young girls, hanging out completely in the buff, laughing, eating potato chips and whatever. Of course we were eager to go talk to them, but as the first time in such an environment with our dicks hanging out, we were unsure as to what to do. The girls seemed to be more comfortable and experienced being naked in public whereas I, at the slightest hint of an erection, would run straight into the freezing waters of the North Atlantic to try and stave off my erection for politeness’ sake.

It gets better.

It took us a while but we noticed something odd. The girls were “signing” to each other. In other words, they were deaf. I could not resist cracking a joke to my friend: “How do you say ‘I like you’ in sign language” and pointed to my dick which was about to get hard again.

As we tried to muster up the courage to talk to the girls, we noticed they moved their spot for some reason - trying to find the right tanning sport or getting away from people perhaps - so we discreetly moved closer to them again. Then they moved again, and we followed, but still couldn’t find the courage to talk to them. We did this a few times until we decided to give up in despair and go home.

And then I realized that in all our moving around from our original spot I lost my swimming shorts. I thought I would have to drive back to New York in a towel. After thirty minutes of backtracking our steps, I finally found my Ralph Lauren swimming trunks buried deep in the sand probably a few hundred feet away from where we ended up.

Why the lengthy prologue? Well the other day I was reminscing about this story with my nudist friend who was there , and waxing fondly over those naked girls and my friend said an interesting thing “those girls weren’t NUDE, they were NAKED!” - meaning, in a good way. I will come back to this topic again in the future, but I would hasten to say that the girls (and guys) in DareRing are NAKED, not nude. And I also have to say that I like both naked and nude. Finally, related to this and the whole point of the post is that I read an interesting article by Christine Borden from the Daily Californian, who talks about the difference between “erotica” and “porn”. There is much more to talk about on this subject but she hits the nail on the head pretty well when she writes that:

“Porn is more than what we’d like to admit. It’s anything that may cause sexual arousal—not just DVDs stashed away in a seedy, curtained corner of the video store. I understand, though, that such a wide definition is troublesome. We assume that explicit, blatant sex and nudity is pornographic, but what of a “tasteful” nude? Even a shoe could be pornographic, especially if it’s a black stiletto currently being licked by a foot fetishizer.”
